Supporting your body’s natural ability to find balance
BodyTalk is a gentle, non-invasive holistic therapy based on the idea that the different systems of the body and mind are constantly communicating with one another.
Everyday life can place demands on this communication. Stress, emotions, past experiences, lifestyle and our environment can all influence how we feel physically and emotionally. A BodyTalk session offers an opportunity to explore the areas your body may be highlighting as a priority for greater balance and wellbeing.
Each session is completely individual.
Using the BodyTalk Protocol and Procedure, I use gentle neuromuscular biofeedback – sometimes described as muscle checking – to guide the session and identify the links or areas that are prioritised.
Depending on what arises, a session may explore connections involving the body, emotions, beliefs, memories, environmental influences or other aspects of your overall wellbeing.
A variety of gentle BodyTalk techniques may then be used to help reinforce these connections and support the body's own self-regulating processes. This can include light tapping over the head and heart, although tapping is only one of a number of techniques that may be used.
You remain fully clothed throughout the session and there is no manipulation or forceful physical work.
One of the things I love about BodyTalk is that it doesn't look at the body and mind as separate.
Rather than focusing solely on a symptom, BodyTalk takes a whole-person approach and considers the many physical, mental, emotional and environmental factors that may be influencing your wellbeing.
There is no set routine and no two sessions are exactly the same. The session follows the priorities identified through the BodyTalk system at that particular time.
Experiences vary from person to person. Some people feel deeply relaxed following a session, while others may notice subtle shifts in how they feel, think or respond to situations over the following days.
There is no particular response that you should have. BodyTalk is designed to support your overall wellbeing rather than to diagnose or treat a specific medical condition.
BodyTalk is a complementary therapy and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment or advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
